Texas Governor Greg Abbott has Devised a Scheme to Separate Asylum Seeking Families

Greg Abbott Republican Governor of Texas has been implementing dangerous policies at the Texas /Mexico border. In recent weeks has also been accused of separating legitimate Asylum seekers from their families.

The Justice Department has filed a lawsuit recently in reaction to the Texas Governor’s use of a buoy system set across the Rio Grande to repel migrants. The system has caused multiple deaths and was illegally installed by Texas without permission from the Mexican Border Communities where the buoys were deployed.

The buoys are the latest escalation of a border security operation that also includes razor-wire fencing, arresting migrants on trespassing charges, and sending busloads of asylum seekers to Democratic-led cities in other states. Critics have long questioned the effectiveness of the two-year operation, known as Operation Lone Star. A state trooper’s account this month that some of the measures have injured and in some cases killed migrants putting the mission under intensifying new scrutiny.

The most recent accusations of forced family separation have been described as such by Kristen Etter an immigration lawyer, to CNN

“Etter says the majority of her two dozen clients were Venezuelan asylum seekers who were hoping to turn themselves into US immigration authorities in a public park in Eagle Pass. But they were instead waived by Texas Department of Public Safety state troopers in airboats or on land to areas where they were rounded up and then separated.”

“In most cases, troopers have arrested the father within a family unit for criminal trespass under state law and the mother and her children were turned over to US Border Patrol agents, per Etter.”

It seems as if the Texas Officials are setting up traps for these families by wearing similar clothing to Border Agents and even some other nefarious tactics.

“Some of our clients have reported DPS officers cutting the (concertina) wire so that they can get through to then only be arrested after they go through the wire,” Etter said.

The Biden Administration should have been praised for their recent Border Policies after Title 42 had expired. Facing much scrutiny from the media and Republicans who were at one point predicting apocalyptic results after Title 42. Have been noticeably quiet on the matter since Border agents encountered 70 percent fewer crossings in the weeks and months following the end of Title 42. It takes the Republican Abbott and the Texas State Police to generate drama and implement illegal measures just to stir up the media and the GOP base once again. Terrible treatment of families who are searching for a new beginning like all of our ancestors did in years past. It is gross negligence orchestrated by the Republican Party. It’s up to the media and voters to see who the true disrupters of Border Peace and Security are, the Republican Party led by the policies of a rogue Governor Abbott.
