The Australian immigrant will step aside, as his son Lachlan Murdoch will take over as his successor. The elder Murdoch created Fox News in 1996 as a Right Wing competitor to CNN. What first began as a conservative spin on the news quickly descended into a propaganda machine. It force-fed its viewers fear-based misinformation and conspiracy theories.
The network was a leading source of anti-climate change disinformation that quickly spread throughout the Republican Party. Fox’s coverage of Donald Trump and his election lies surrounding the 2020 contest is the leading cause for the demise of our democracy. The excessive falsehoods on the 24-hour faux news outlet created widespread delusion for its viewers about the integrity of our elections. Presenting conspiracy theorists as experts and misinformation as facts. Leading to the January 6th insurrection on the American Government. The election lies have also resulted in the network being found liable in a lawsuit filed by Dominion, a voting machine manufacturer. The nearly 800 million dollar settlement was just the first of election-related litigation against Fox. For misleading the public and defamation of voting machine integrity.
These are just some of the examples of how Rupert Murdoch and his sinister political creation Fox have used their influence to undermine our democracy. The world has been demonstrably worse off due to the network’s refusal to have journalistic standards. Brainwashing millions of American citizens into believing their hateful rhetoric. They are the principal reason the MAGA movement is still thriving. So yes I agree with President Joe Biden, Rupert Murdoch is the most dangerous man in the world.
