President Joe Biden proudly joined striking Union Auto Workers on the picket line today. Biden has built his presidency on empowering the working class. His efforts to make the economy stronger through legislation intended to improve the lives of the middle classes are the cornerstone of his “Bidenomics” plan.
A drastic overhaul of the Republican Party’s flawed trickle-down policies. That rewards corporations and the wealthy. The anti-working class tax cuts that Donald Trump introduced are a perfect example of the GOP’s effort to build the economy top-down. Which historically has expanded the wealth gap between the rich and the lower classes.

So it should not have been a surprise that Biden was invited by the leaders of the UAW to join them. As they demand the executives of the Automakers meet their contract terms. The same Auto Industry which made record profits in recent years has not given the necessary commitments to its employees. Union members took drastic measures to prevent the industry from going bankrupt when times were perilous for automakers. Instead of doing right by those workers who sacrificed when times were tough. The corporations used their union members’ goodwill and federal assistance to line their pockets. Without voluntarily giving them back the money and benefits they forfeited to save the industry.
Biden acknowledged their sacrifice saying “You deserve a significant raise” adding “We saved them, it’s about time they step up for us.” “Now they’re doing incredibly well,” Biden said of the automakers. “And guess what: You should be doing incredibly well, too.”

This comes as Donald Trump plans on visiting a non-union factory because he was told by Union leaders that he was not welcome to join them. Trump plans to use his visit as counter-programming to the second Republican Presidential Debate. Once again he backed down from debating his competitors in the Republican primary.
The contrast between Biden, being the first sitting president to ever join a union picket line. While the uninvited Trump is using the strike as cover for his cowardly absence from the Republican debate. Should implore anyone who is still undecided about which candidate deserves their vote to back Biden. The President is a champion of the working-class people who make up this country. Compared to Trump, a self-serving conman who refuses to face his competition. If people still need time to make that decision then that says more about their character than it does about the two candidates headed for a presidential showdown in 2024.
