The vote was 208 to 218 with 11 Republicans against the motion to table. The GOP no votes: Eli Crane, Ken Buck,Victoria Spartz, Andy Biggs, Matt Rosendale, Matt Gaetz, Bob Good, Nancy Mace, Tim Burchett, Cory Mills, Warren Davidson.
This paves the way for a vote on removing McCarthy as House speaker.”
So Democrats under the leadership of House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries have decided to vote against a motion to block the effort by Matt Gaetz to remove Kevin McCarthy as Speaker. The strategy by House Democrats will force Speaker McCarthy to make concessions to Democrats. So in return, they will bail McCarthy out of losing his dream job.
A brilliant plan that puts the Democrats in the driver’s seat going forward. Allowing a vote puts all the pressure on McCarthy. Now the Speaker will be forced into giving Democratic leadership whatever they demand otherwise he will lose the job that he has coveted for his whole political career.
So Hakeem Jeffries has put the ball into Kevin McCarthy’s court. The Speaker now must earn the votes of the Democrats. Since McCarthy has broken so many promises with Democrats and some disgruntled Republicans. The time has come for the Speaker to 💩 or get off the Speaker’s throne. He has lost all goodwill and leverage that he ever wielded over those members across the aisle. Now Democrats are judge, jury, and executioner for the upcoming vote to oust McCarthy.
