Better late than never…I guess? Former football coach Tommy Tuberville who has been on a nine-month crusade to hold up all military personnel promotions has finally received backlash from fellow Republican Senators. Tuberville’s stunt started as a protest against a current military policy. That pays travel expenses for any female soldier if she must go out of state to receive an abortion. A large number of states that have military bases have banned the procedure so it is necessary for women stationed in Red States to travel long distances just to get the services.
Tuberville has received overwhelming criticism from Democrats and military personnel from the beginning of his selfish political stance. Experts say that Tuberville’s actions pose a serious threat to national security along with creating miserable conditions for military personnel and their families.
With American allies Israel and Ukraine in a fight for survival, finally, Tuberville’s GOP colleagues have decided to speak up. For Republicans to call out someone on the right publicly is no small feat. Most Right-wingers have yet to call out Donald Trump and he attempted to overthrow the government and sent a violent mob to their place of employment. If Tuberville doesn’t end this self-inflicted attack on the country’s security he may find himself in George Santos territory. Not only hated by a majority on both sides of the aisle but also by his constituents. In Washington, you know you’re nose-diving toward rock bottom when your name gets mentioned with the likes of George Santos. A man so hated even Hamas has a better Q rating than he does. If Tuberville doesn’t change his unpopular stance he just might replace Santos as most likely to eat his lunch by himself in his rental car.
Now that Republicans have called out Tuberville it makes you wonder, what if anything, could make him stop politicizing the military? He claims that he is used to having his character assassinated from his days coaching football. If you’re content with your peers questioning your character because you’ve “been there done that” maybe it’s time to reevaluate yourself. Before this childish nonsense started Tuberville’s claim to fame was that he was the reason Alabama football hired legendary coach Nick Saban. Hopefully, if Tuberville keeps this charade up, then he’ll be known as the reason Alabama chose to elect Senator Nick Saban. Until then let’s enjoy Tuberville taking a major digger down a flight of airplane stairs.
