When Donald Trump ran for reelection in 2020, his campaign called Univision, the nation’s most influential Spanish-language network, “a leftist propaganda machine and a mouthpiece of the Democrat Party.”
“We shall treat them accordingly,” top advisers promised.
Three years later, Trump is treating Univision and its new corporate owners like long-lost friends. He hosted a trio of its executives at Mar-a-Lago last week during an hour-long Univision interview that was notable for its gracious tone, starting with a question about how well he is doing among Latino voters in early general election polling.
The Democratic alarm further spiked two days later, when Univision advertising representatives told the Biden campaign that spots already purchased to run during the Trump interview in Nevada, Arizona, Pennsylvania and Florida had been canceled — owing to a heretofore unannounced policy about opposition advertising in single-candidate interviews.”
Donald Trump is at it again. His persistent attacks on our democracy increasingly grow with each passing day. Now he is using his son-in-law’s connections to block President Biden from advertising to the Spanish-speaking masses. If this doesn’t shake you to your core then you should wake the fu*ck up.
Just in the last couple of weeks, Trump has publicly admitted that he has plans to put migrants in detention camps. In recent speeches, he’s mimicked the rhetoric of Adolf Hitler referring to citizens who don’t support him as “Vermin”. Trump on multiple occasions has spoken glowingly about authoritarian rulers from around the globe. Including Putin, Xi, and Kim Jung Un. Coupled with his comments about using his Justice Department to prosecute those who are his opponents in an interview on the Spanish language network Univision.
Why this isn’t being discussed on other media platforms, speaks volumes about how the industry is complicit in promoting Trump. I mean where is the outrage on his behavior? Trump doesn’t even pretend to care about this country and its citizens. He now consistently says what used to be the quiet part out loud. Trump is fully committed to being a dictator at this point. I just can’t figure out if his cult-like followers are too stupid to realize what he is actually saying, or have they deliberately decided to give our country’s democracy away to the lowest bidder, Trump?
