The richest man in the world Elon Musk is being condemned for promoting an antisemitic conspiracy theory that was posted on his latest passion project X.(Formerly Twitter) This should come as no surprise because the only thing that Musk enjoys more than spreading conspiracy theories is condoning hate speech.
Musk a South African whose family thrived under apartheid rule owes his antisemitism to his grandfather and namesake Jonathan Elon Halderman. An American-born Canadian who was a member of the Social Credit Party. A group who in its early years gained a reputation for antisemitism and promoted conspiracies that Jewish Bankers were the root of all the world’s problems.
Musk has claimed he was bullied growing up. At one point Musk recalled calling a classmate whose father had recently committed suicide “stupid”. This led to Musk taking a severe beating and getting thrown down a flight of concrete stairs. I’m no fan of bullies, but that sounds more like Musk was beaten up because he was being an arrogant asshole. Not an innocent victim of bullying as he describes.
As owner of the site formerly known as Twitter, it appears Musk is creating a space where he can share all the hateful content the internet can supply. However, with absolute control, he now has the power to pick and choose who stays and who goes. It’s the ultimate playground for a spoiled little man who failed miserably at real-life social skills. So to have his own platform where he can spew all the nasty thoughts running rampant in that brain of his, without fear of being tossed down a flight of stairs. Must be the perfect combination for Musk’s child-like retribution campaign to all those kids that refuse to play with him growing up.
Now that Musk is finally the top dog in a self-created safe space. He has not only allowed others to spread divisive disinformation under the guise of freedom of speech. As long as his feelings aren’t being hurt he perpetuates racism, transphobia, homophobia, misogyny, and antisemitism. A kid who once felt as if he was being bullied. Instead of making impactful progress toward ending the cycle of violent hate speech. Elon Musk has chosen to become the biggest bully in a cyber world of his own design.
