(The Atlanta Journal-Constitution)- “Refusing to sign off on results, several Republican election board members in metro Atlanta counties voted recently against certifying their local elections.
The outcome of the elections wasn’t in doubt, but these GOP board members said they were justified because of voter check-in data errors, districting mistakes and concerns about voting machines. Election officials said they corrected technology issues, which affected a small number of voters.
Voting rights advocates said the Republicans used minor problems to cast doubt on elections, though the board members said they were taking a principled stand for election integrity.”

I don’t know what phrase best describes what Georgia Republicans are doing by refusing to certify recent election results. It’s either a case of “practice makes perfect” or their version of “if you ain’t cheating then you’re not trying”. Regardless, Georgia Republicans have telegraphed their plans in the likely event that President Biden wins the Presidential Election in 2024 in the Peach state.
This childish stunt is the election equivalent of “If Republicans don’t win, I’m taking everyone else’s votes and I’m going home”. The current GOP has made it abundantly obvious that the rules of governing only apply when they favor their party’s grip on power. Whenever Democrats have any semblance of an advantage, Republicans outright refuse to accept the results and in some instances completely move the goalposts. By using stacked legislative bodies to change the laws in their favor.
You would think that there are only so many ways for right-wingers to implement voter suppression tactics and create gerrymandered districts. However, Republicans continue to push the limits way beyond what’s acceptable by historical norms. George R. R. Martin creator of “Game of Thrones” would kill to have half the creativity of Republican strategists who create innovative solutions to circumvent future Democratic achievements. Without an ounce of apprehension of its legality, knowing full well that the highest court in the land is filled with Justices who are sympathetic to the cause.

Adding to the growing list of Republican efforts to erode our democracy from within. If left unchecked, it’s only a matter of when, not if, the effects will be too overwhelming for our nation to survive the treasonous assault that the GOP has inflicted upon this country. Generations of Americans have died just to protect the freedoms that the United States affords its citizens. Yet here we are, not since the Civil War has the country become so divided. It’s so divisive that even Hall can’t stand Oates anymore. If that legendary duo can’t get their 💩 together to save a beautiful union, do the American political parties even stand a chance?
