(CNN)— “From his infamous “what the hell do you have to lose?” remark to his shallow “Platinum Plan” economic agenda for Black Americans, former President Donald Trump’s outreach to the Black community over the years has been little more than political theater, devoid of real substance. But the performance-artist-in-chief might just have outdone himself.
Trump’s latest disingenuous stunt came last month with the boast about winning supposed backing from Black Lives Matter, a group he has disparaged in the past as “a symbol of hate.”
In a Truth Social post last month in which he wrote that he had “done more for Black people than any other President,” Trump wrote that he was proud to have the backing of an individual who purported to be a leading member of a Black Lives Matter chapter in Rhode Island. Trump wrote that he had spoken to the man, Mark Fisher, and that he was “very honored to have his and BLM’s support.”
Trump touting alleged backing from BLM is eye-rolling, considering his years-long attacks on the group, including remarks a few years ago that Black Lives Matter is “bad for Black people.”
The former President might have won Fisher’s endorsement, but Black Lives Matter wants nothing to do with either of them: Fisher is said by leaders of the group to have no current affiliation with the chapter in Rhode Island, which has denounced him as “an imposter.””
Ouch!! I haven’t witnessed someone get knocked out of a dispute that quickly since Mike Tyson dropped Peter McNeely twice in the first 89 seconds of the first round, ending the fight. Roland Martin in the clip above was similarly relentless as Tyson in his verbal beat down of Trump supporter Mark Fisher.
Fisher, a former Black Lives Matter Rhode Island chapter co-founder, has no affiliation with the group anymore because he was kicked out for being an “imposter”. That fact hasn’t kept Donald Trump from boasting on his social media for fascist dummies site “Truth Social” that he was endorsed by a “Leading Member of Black Lives Matter”. The ironic thing about the “Truth Social” post is that it was a complete fabrication.
That would be the equivalent of getting endorsed by George Santos and saying a prominent Republican Leader in Congress has backed your campaign. Besides being manipulative and misleading, it’s just not true. In Santos’ case, you would have to say the endorsement came from an indicted liar and “Cameo” message creator to honestly capture his current position in life. I can’t tell you what Mark Fisher is up to besides getting his ass handed to him in political debates, but he certainly doesn’t represent “BLM” anymore.
It should come as no surprise though, because two of the things Donald Trump is infamous for are, lying and exploiting the black community. Yet, media outlets and Right-Wing propagandists such as Fox News, OAN, and NewsMax have pushed this false narrative to give the MAGA base credibility in minority communities. You would hope that the mainstream press would investigate and report the truth about this story but don’t hold your breath. The only reason I found out about this exploitation, was because of the opinion article I happened to stumble upon in what could be described as the unfinished basement of CNN’s website. Next to the gluten-free holiday recipes and the magical Christmas cactus ads. So it’s at least known by CNN, but still hasn’t been covered on the television network’s 24-hour news programming. Let alone any of the multitude of other News Networks and Services on TV or the internet.
It’s always such a rush for all the News sources to immediately publish Donald Trump’s latest comments. When it comes to fact-checking or follow-ups you have a better chance of finding “Pauldo” than you do a correction of Trump’s misinformation and rhetoric. I guess that’s why you have to keep coming to The-Anti-Social-Media.com so I can continue to fill you all in.
