(CNN) — “In a stunning and unprecedented decision, the Colorado Supreme Court removed former President Donald Trump from the state’s 2024 ballot, ruling that he isn’t an eligible presidential candidate because of the 14th Amendment’s “insurrectionist ban.”
The ruling was 4-3.
The ruling will be placed on hold pending appeal until January 4.
The state Supreme Court decision only applies to Colorado but the historic ruling will roil the 2024 presidential campaign. It tees up an appeal to the US Supreme Court, which could settle the matter for the entire nation. Colorado election officials have said the matter needs to be settled by January 5, which is the statutory deadline to set the list of candidates for the GOP primary.”

Spectacular News out of Colorado this evening as the State’s Supreme Court decided to remove Donald Trump from the State’s Republican primary ballot. As unexpected as the timing of this announcement was, I believe the ruling was the only logical Constitutional outcome.
The 14th Amendment section 3 is very clear in its language so anything less than a full ballot removal, from the United States Supreme Court, when they ultimately rule on this matter. Would be purely political and legally unconstitutional, but that wouldn’t be the first time this cast of conservative characters has been on the wrong side of a historical decision.

So celebrate this ruling, because this gets the ball rolling on this case towards an ultimate decision. For the sake of our democracy, I just hope that the Supreme Court Justices take this case seriously because this is the only legal remedy to keep Trump from being President again. Because even if he is convicted on all 91 charges he’s facing he could still be elected to Office. If they decide to allow him to remain on the ballot, then what would stop Joe Biden from doing the same thing? Ok…I know… I know… human decency and a love for this nation.
