(Independent)–“Former president Donald Trump’s lawyer implied that Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh should overturn efforts to keep Mr Trump off the ballot as a favour for the former president supporting him during his confirmation process.
Alina Habba, Mr Trump’s attorney, spoke on Sean Hannity’s Fox News show on Thursday evening to explain how Mr Trump’s legal team formally asked that the Supreme Court overturn a ruling from the Colorado Supreme Court that found him constitutionally ineligible to appear on the ballot this year.
Mr Trump nominated Mr Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court in 2018 and continued to support him even as he faced accusations during of sexual assault, which Mr Kavanaugh vehemently denied.
In addition, Mr Trump attacked Christine Blasey Ford, who accused Mr Kavanaugh of sexual assault when she and Ms Ford were teenagers.
CNN host Phil Mattingly also chimed in. “If a Democrat said that about the Justice Department or Merrick Garland or fill-in-the-blank here, there would be an absolute implosion. That’s bonkers,” he said.”
Leave it to Donald Trump’s kangaroo court lawyer Alina Habba to blow as hard as she possibly can into, what she might have thought was, a dog whistle, but it turns out it was more like a date rapist whistle. Sending out a clear message to Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh that he is still indebted to Trump. I realize being on Fox, she may feel comfortable being in a Right-Wing echo chamber. But the internet does exist and she definitely said the quiet part out loud, for all to hear.
Brazenly calling on Kavanaugh, claiming that he, among others, owes Trump an IOU for their appointments to the Supreme Court is the definition of unethical and not how the Judicial System operates. She even went so far as to suggest that Trump stood by the accused sexual predator as if they were brothers in arms fighting off rape allegations together. Habba hints that because Trump and Kavanaugh, both faced credible accusations of sexual misconduct, that they are “The Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid” of forcing themselves on women. Sticking by each other, no matter how vile or illegal their conduct may be.
To insinuate such a quid pro quo is such a bad look for a lawyer, it’s quite obvious that Trump has been forced to bargain basement shop for his legal team. That’s what you deserve after years of ignoring legal advice and refusing to pay your lawyers for the mountain of work they have done for you. This is the quality of what’s left, Alina Habba and her law degree, which most likely came from onlinelawdegree.biz. When she was told she had to pass the bar to practice law, she said why can’t we stop by for at least one drink.
I just wonder how unaware she is at this point, about the fact that she is almost certainly working pro bono. That’s what happens when you get in bed with a scumbag like Trump. Pardon that Freudian slip. Getting some form of payment is probably the least of your worries if you ever literally find yourself in bed with Donald Trump. She would’ve had a better chance of seeing a payday if that was the case. Trump doesn’t just shell out money for legal advice. However, if Alina Habba continues to make comments like the one she made to Kavanaugh, her legal career might be cut short. People have been disbarred for much less than implying a bribe of a Supreme Court Justice live on television. But with “Trump’s lawyer” on her resume, she would surely have a cushy job waiting for her as a talking head on Fox News. She would fit right in with all the rest of the Trump back scratchers.
