N.C. Republican Governor Candidate Who Paid For An Abortion, Said Banning Abortion Would Be Top Priority!!!

(CNN) — “North Carolina Lt. Gov. Mark Robinson, the state’s second highest-ranking elected official and its leading Republican candidate for governor in 2024, once hailed banning abortion as his top priority, advocating for its complete ban without exceptions.

“For me, there is no compromise on abortion. It makes no difference to me why or how that child ended up in that womb,” he said in July 2020 while campaigning for lieutenant governor.

Now, as the 2024 GOP front-runner for governor, Robinson avoids mentioning abortion on the campaign trail, claiming recently that he stopped using what he calls the “a-word,” preferring instead to use the word “life.”

Robinson denies ever supporting abortion bans without exceptions, publicly stating that he has always struggled with the issue and confirming that he once paid for an abortion for his then-girlfriend, now-wife in the 1980s, an experience he says he fully regrets.

But in comments reviewed by CNN’s KFile dating back to 2018, Robinson regularly labeled abortion as “murder” and “genocide,” comparing the anti-abortion movement to the abolitionist movement to end slavery. He also baselessly speculated that the founders of Planned Parenthood were satanists who practiced witchcraft. Robinson characterized women who undergo abortions, even if they are just “24 hours pregnant,” as murderers.”

North Carolina Lt. Governor and leading Republican Candidate for Governor Mark Robinson is a prime example of what today’s GOP is all too willing to do to get elected. It is quite ironic that a man who admits to paying for an abortion after much consideration with his then-girlfriend/wife. Now being a Republican elected official Robinson has been quite vocal of his pro-life agenda up until recently.

Robinson said in the aftermath of his experience that women who decide to terminate their pregnancy are “murderers”. He considered banning abortion to be his top priority and would make sure there would be no exceptions. Taking the rights away from young couples. Who are in the same position the Robinsons were once in. When they were allowed to make whatever choice was right for their best interests at the time. Even if you regret your actions, they were still yours to make. But now when he is trying to convince Republicans to support him. He vows to strip those freedoms away, because now he knows what is best for others. Misplaced Republican rationale like you read about.

That was until recently, when the prospect of facing a general election in November on the horizon. Where the majority of the electorate is in favor of a woman’s right to choose, as he and his wife did years ago. Robinson appears to have walked back his stance on the issue faster than Michael Jackson. When he debuted the moonwalk on back in 1983 during his performance of “Billie Jean”. The Lieutenant Governor knows by now that the abortion topic is guaranteed to lose, even in bright red states. To avoid being called out on his staunch opposition to women’s reproductive health care rights he simply refuses to discuss the matter anymore.

It’s one thing to become enlightened on a subject, and through life experience change your perspective on a particular issue. That is how we grow as individuals. But that certainly isn’t the case with Robinson. He is pandering to the masses, knowing full well that the only thing that has changed about his abortion stance, is the crowd he’s manipulating into voting for him.

He went so far as to apologize to Republicans back when it came to light that he and his wife had the procedure themselves. I wonder if a year later he’ll apologize for his apology to garner favor with moderates. All in the name of securing a victory for the North Carolina Governor’s office. Selling his soul, a price Republicans are more than willing to pay for political control.

Since he is busy rewriting his history, maybe Mark Robinson should also apologize to the LGBTQ+ community while he’s at it. The multiple times he publicly said that “Rainbow flags on churches are a spit in the face of God”. A view that the general electorate should feel is completely unacceptable. You see the thing about being a hypocritical liar is your stories always change. That’s why Republicans like Robinson always need to know who they are speaking to. So they can shift their narrative to fit the room. When you have the truth on your side, there is always only one version told. Just ask Robinson’s Democratic opponent who has always been pro-choice and LGBTQ+ friendly no matter who is listening to him.
