(MSNBC)—At last count, Trump had the endorsement of 169 members of the House, compared to…six for Haley; in the Senate, the numbers are 19,to…zero. He’s also been endorsed by former 2024 rivals Ramaswamy and North Dakota Gov. Doug Burgum. Sen. Tim Scott of South Carolina…” along with Florida Governor Ron Desantis.
“Sen. Marco Rubio of Florida clashed bitterly with Trump when they both ran for president in 2016. Rubio called Trump “a con artist,” Trump called him “Liddle Marco.” On Sunday, Rubio announced that he too was endorsing Trump. If Rubio regretted failing to repay Nikki Haley for endorsing him eight years ago, he didn’t say.
Rubio’s endorsement wasn’t even the most humiliating for the person bending the knee;that award must go to House Majority Whip Tom Emmer of Minnesota, a member of the House Republican leadership. In last fall’s race to succeed Kevin McCarthy as speaker, Emmer was poised to be the consensus Republican pick — until Trump blasted him as a “Globalist RINO” on social media. “He’s done. It’s over. I killed him,” Trump bragged, and Emmer quickly dropped out of the race. Yet, just after New Year’s, Emmer deliveredTrump his endorsement. (A dishonorable mention must go to Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Tx., who endorsed Trump Tuesday night — again backing the man who attacked his father and his wife.)”

I can’t tell what makes me more upset, the fact that all these former anti-Trump Republicans are selling off what scraps are left of their integrity, to now endorse Donald Trump. Or the people supporting the Republican Party who believe this disingenuous group of cowards crawling back into the arms of their former abuser.
The list of Republicans, who are well aware of the threat Trump poses to this nation and its democracy. Yet, despite that knowledge, have thrown themselves at the feet of Trump begging for forgiveness, which grows by the day. It’s not as if Trump had some profound self-reflection about his behavior and vowed to change his ways. It’s quite the opposite, Trump has quadrupled down on his hateful rhetoric and promises to be a dictator starting on his first day in office.
Maybe I could understand if Trump was an undefeated candidate who even won every endorsement he gave to fellow Republicans. But Trump’s track record has been abysmal so much so that he even lost the popular vote in the election he won. These politicians backtracking on their instincts, are trying to hedge their bets. On one hand, they realize that history will look down on those who enabled Trump to wreak havoc on American Democracy. While simultaneously they realize that doing what’s best for the country may cost them their jobs as Republican elected officials. For courageous people like Liz Cheney and Adam Kinszinger, the choice was simple, country over party.

They moved on from their cushy jobs in Congress to pursue careers in the private sector that would help rid the Republican Party of the cancerous tumor that is Trumpism. Sadly there are far more examples of Republicans choosing the MAGA extremism, the party has devolved into, over the longevity and success of the United States.
That juxtaposition may be more glaring when it comes to Republican officials, but even the electorate has proven that a large majority continue to believe that an Authoritarian in Chief is the answer to the nation’s problems. It is no surprise that they feel that way considering the Republicans they have voted for in previous elections. Are now ignoring their own concerns about Trump. Leaving the public with the impression that Trump can’t be that dangerous if his detractors are now backing his candidacy.
What message does it send to voters, when Trump’s only opponent left Nikki Haley. Has a “Veep”-like bag man and most trusted supporter in Governor Chris Sununu of New Hampshire. As her loyal mouthpiece, Sununu still publicly stated that he would choose Trump in a general election. With friends like that in the Republican Party who needs enemies? That, my readers, says all you need to know about the current state of the Republican Party. A bunch of disloyal hypocrites who will lie to their country and its constituents. Just to turn around and resell their loyalty to whoever is the last Republican standing. For no other reason than job security. Even if that Republican is Trump, a man who stands for nothing, besides his own best interests, at the expense of We the People of the United States of America.

Looks As Though Nikki Haley Could Have Benefited From Watching “Veep“ Herself!!
