(Huff Post)—“Former Rep. Liz Cheney (R-Wyo.) slammed Rep. Elise Stefanik (R-N.Y.) for her ongoing efforts to downplay the Jan. 6, 2021, insurrection at the U.S Capitol.
Stefanik has referred to the Donald Trump supporters arrested for attacking the Capitol as “hostages” and on Tuesday called the special committee that investigated the attack a “sham” in a statement.
In response, Cheney, the former vice chair of the Jan. 6 committee, pointed to Stefanik’s statement from the day of the attack, where she called it a “tragic day for America” and said, “The perpetrators of this un-American violence and destruction must be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.”
Cheney described the past statement as a “rare moment of honesty” from Stefanik.
“One day she will have to explain how and why she morphed into a total crackpot,” Cheney wrote on X, formerly Twitter.
One possible explanation for Stefanik’s embrace of the rioters who stormed the Capitol is that she is auditioning to be Trump’s vice president. Stefanik campaigned for Trump in New Hampshire this week as he seeks the Republican presidential nomination. Her star has risen while Cheney was chased out of office for her frequent criticism of Trump by Republicans.”
Hell hath no fury like a Liz Cheney scorned, am I right? Trump sycophant Elise Stefanik has been keeping busy on a media tour spreading revisionist propaganda regarding the January 6th insurrection. She has been co-signing Trump’s assertion that the domestic terrorists who stormed the Capitol are political “hostages”. An offensive description that disrespects those who are truly being held captive in the Gaza Strip and throughout the world. To which Liz Cheney, who Stefanik replaced as GOP Conference Chairwoman, responded rightly by challenging the authenticity of Stefanik’s position on the matter.
Cheney didn’t even have to go on some scorched earth rebuttal to highlight Stefanik’s blatant hypocrisy on the subject. All Cheney needed was to remind the public of Stefanik’s own opinion immediately after the attack on our democracy. There is no better argument than providing receipts of a person contradicting themselves to prove that they’re totally full of 💩.
I love how when Stefanik realized her press release proved she speaks out of both sides of her mouth. She quickly deleted the evidence so she could continue her MAGA narrative and pretend it never existed. Not on Cheney’s watch, Cheney made sure to capture Stefanik’s original statement and reposted it for all to see. Cheney no longer has the burden of kowtowing to the Republican base. So her newfound freedom allows her to expose the lies from her former colleagues and she’s made it her mission to set the record straight.
Sadly the MAGA cult is so far removed from reality they’ll still side with Stefanik on her delusional rhetoric. Ignoring the truth, that she is whitewashing her own opinion for self-promotion. Including the ringleader Trump, whom Stefanik has been auditioning for his Vice President position.
Liars like Stefanik, don’t have the luxury of evidence to prove their story. So if they lie enough, it’s their own words that will substantiate the fabrication. Just look at Trump, he has lied so often that if you go back throughout his tenure of preaching his extremism to his cult followers. There are thousands of instances where he’s told his worshippers one thing only to completely change his stance. Yet, his supporters eat up whatever he says despite the discrepancies.
At what point does it sink in, to these MAGATS that their political leaders Stefanik and Trump can’t be trusted to speak the same truth twice? They were either being lied to then or they are being manipulated now. Both things being said don’t make sense and thanks to political heroes like Liz Cheney. The world can see these people for who they really are. Corrupt lying narcissists, using their MAGA ideology, to brainwash people only further destroying their own democracy.
