(CNN)–“The Senate is working to pass a $95.3 billion foreign aid bill with assistance for Ukraine and Israel, but it may be days until a final vote as GOP Sen. Rand Paul of Kentucky is using arcane and complex chamber rules to slow down the process into the weekend.
The chamber cleared a critical 60-vote threshold to advance the bill on Thursday, and took another procedural vote Friday night. But without an agreement from all 100 senators to speed up the process and swiftly pass the legislation, the Senate is expected to work through the weekend with a final vote next week.
“I think we should stay here as long as it takes,” Paul told CNN’s Manu Raju on Thursday. “If it takes a week or a month, I’ll force them to stay here to discuss why they think the border of Ukraine is more important than the US border.”
Lawmakers are moving forward with the foreign aid bill, however, after Republicans blocked a broader bill that would have combined foreign aid with a bipartisan border deal. Republicans had initially demanded that border security be part of the bill, but went on to reject the bipartisan deal amid forceful attacks on the measure by former President Donald Trump and top House Republicans.
Senate Republicans are now divided over the foreign aid package, and some are pushing for amendments to make changes to the bill – including to add measures related to immigration and border policy.”

Seriously, WTF is wrong with Republicans? It’s always something with these chaos creators. Imagine being on the front lines of the war in Ukraine. Fighting tirelessly day and night to protect your country from further Russian invasion. While also risking your life to defend democracy against the tyrannical threats that Russian aggression poses on the world. Only to find out that because of Republican Senator Rand Paul, you must wait for your life-saving ammunition and supplies. Until he decides it’s time to remove his hold on the necessary aid package that was already Senate-approved.
Let’s not overlook the reasoning for his one-man temper tantrum. It is because the foreign aid bill doesn’t include border security. You have to be fu*king kidding me right? We just spent four months on a comprehensive immigration reform plan that Republicans made as a requirement for this foreign aid. Then once that was completed Republicans moved the goalposts again and demanded the border be separated as it was originally. Now Rand Paul has gone back on that promise and is willing to prolong this process in protest of who? Democrats have done everything they’ve been asked, yet Republicans are so determined to undermine the stability of our allies in their times of crisis. Putin, Iran, China, and Hamas have all benefited because of the actions of the Republican Party.

It makes you question just how many lives has this Republican disarray cost the people of Ukraine, Israel, and Gaza. In the four months since they began their political shenanigans. Every single person, who has died in Ukraine because they are so limited in their dwindling arsenal. Every Palestinian who has perished due to the lack of humanitarian assistance that this bill provides falls squarely on the backs of Republicans. Israeli citizens are also facing danger as their iron dome missile defense system is increasingly depleted and in need of replenishment. Let’s not forget all the Americans who will die because the fentanyl detection machines that were in the border portion of the legislation will now not be purchased.
Republicans have blood on their hands simply because they would rather play political games than offer lifesaving solutions. In America, along with our allies in conflict, relies heavily upon our military leadership to protect against our common enemies. Millions of lives are at risk and Republicans’ only allegiance is to Donald Trump. A man who would never put the safety of others above his obsession for power. As long as his desires to rule, not govern, are met he could care less about the consequences. This includes the well-being of Americans, Ukrainians, Israelis, Palestinians, and the Taiwanese. Trump’s motto should’ve never been “Make America Great Again”. “Hurray For Me, Fu*k Everyone Else” is far closer to Trump and the Republicans’ true slogan.
