(CNN) — “The former FBI informant charged with lying about the Bidens’ dealings in Ukraine told investigators after his arrest that Russian intelligence officials were involved in passing information to him about Hunter Biden, prosecutors said Tuesday in a new court filing, noting that the information was false.
Prosecutors also said Alexander Smirnov has been “actively peddling new lies that could impact US elections” after meeting with Russian spies late last year and that the fallout from his previous false bribery accusations about the Bidens “continue[s] to be felt to this day.”
The explosive revelation comes amid backlash over how Smirnov’s now-debunked allegations played into House Republicans’ impeachment inquiry into the president.
The false information that Smirnov reported “was not trivial,” prosecutors wrote. “It targeted the presumptive nominee of one of the two major political parties in the United States. The effects of Smirnov’s false statements and fabricated information continue to be felt to this day,” prosecutors said, making an apparent reference to the turmoil in Congress over the discredited bribery allegations – which were a key element of the GOP impeachment probe.”
Those of us who have been paying close attention to the Trump-Putin “You scratch my back, I’ll get you elected!” relationship over the years. May not be as shocked by this latest reporting as most. But the revelations exposed by this new report paint a much clearer picture of the extent of the Quid Pro Quo that exists between the two corrupted leaders.
It’s fairly simple, Trump has been tasked by Putin to undermine and dismantle the NATO alliance. That has been Putin’s biggest threat and obstacle to the reunification of the Soviet Empire of yesteryear. The price of Trump’s services is that Putin must supply the Republican Party and Trump’s campaign specifically with damaging information about the Biden Family and Hillary Clinton previously. Whether it’s fabricated or not if disseminated properly, Trump can use such disinformation to create a false narrative to help him win the Presidential election in 2016, 2020, and again in 2024.
The Republican Party may not have been privy to the details of this plot, but they are certainly complicit. They have used this Russian Intelligence plant as their “smoking gun evidence” when in reality they were peddling Russian propaganda to the American public. With no factual proof to support their fake claims. The Republicans weren’t the only ones duped into spreading these lies. Right-wing media outlets such as Fox News, OAN, NewsMax, and a laundry list of other sources of MAGA misinformation. Were shoving these lies down the throats of their rabid fan base daily to create outrage against the sitting President.
It’s at best election interference and bordering on treasonous behavior. Now that the muddy waters are starting to clear. Hopefully what’s left of the sane American electorate will understand how the Republican Party has been infiltrated by foreign enemies. Their only job is looking to further divide the U.S. from within. From here on out Republicans should be given no trust or leeway in what they say. Especially without any evidence of wrongdoing, they should never again be taken at their word. If the choice in November’s Presidential Elections isn’t made apparent with this bombshell information then you are just lying to yourself at this point.
