(Meidas Touch Network)–“The Republican Study Committee has recently released a report outlining its objectives if Republicans are able to keep power in the House of Representatives, take back the Senate, and take back the White House. The top-lines from this proposal represent one of the most extreme policy agendas the United States Congress has ever seen. The Committee is one of the largest caucuses in the Republican party, with about 170 members of Congress signing onto this agenda.
The report, titled “Fiscal Sanity to Save America,” represents a budget proposal that Republicans will try to pass next year. Within this budget proposal, Republicans seek a number of substantial cuts to government programs and propose several policies that an average American would not agree with.”
These include:
- increasing the retirement age to become eligible for retirement benefits like Social Security;
- passing the Life At Conception Act which would outlaw abortion and IVF for millions of Americans;
- cutting parts of the Affordable Care Act, thereby increasing healthcare costs for millions of Americans; and
- reforming Medicare to limit the number of individuals eligible

Republicans have made it their priority to completely alienate themselves from an overwhelming majority of Americans. When it comes to their vision for future policy initiatives. With plans to reduce and cut spending on the country’s most popular social programs. Along with creating distributing legislation that would make abortion and IVF treatments illegal nationwide.
It’s as if Republicans purposely ignore the facts, science, and opinions of the public when drafting their budget proposals. If this budget wasn’t so alarming and reckless you’d think they were daring the American electorate to vote against them come November. Republicans have made it abundantly clear they are so against making the wealthy and corporations pay taxes. They are willing to sacrifice the health and well-being of everyone else to ensure business as usual for the rich.

That’s what separates Democrats from Republicans on policy strategy and funding. Democrats believe that if the wealthiest citizens and corporate America would at minimum pay some taxes. The entire country would benefit and government spending could easily cover social services including future programs on the Democratic wishlist. While the national debt would be a thing of the past. Republicans on the other hand demand that all government revenues be financed through taxing the lower classes. Giving tax breaks to billionaires and businesses at the expense of the limited services provided to those in need.
Republicans also dare to claim that the poorest of Americans are a drain on the economic system. When they are a significant portion of the population that is financing the government, to begin with. It’s a giant “Ponzi scheme” designed by Republicans to keep their corporate donors rich and lobbyists happy. By using divisive political rhetoric and fear tactics. Keeping the working classes blindly unaware that they are being manipulated. Pitting American citizens with differing views on social issues, against one another. It’s simple divide-and-conquer tactics that are tremendously effective.
Republicans have been so successful in their political sleight of hand that 28% of the country is proudly embracing the GOP. When only 5% actually benefit from their policies. Sadly, recent studies suggest it’s the uneducated who make up the bulk of today’s Republican Party. They prey primarily upon those uninformed and ignorant of disinformation, to help enact their unpopular policy agenda. So to combat this, it’s incumbent upon Americans to learn the truth from credible sources and to educate themselves. Especially regarding what their elected officials are voting for and against.
