(Meidas Touch Network)–“A internal party powerpoint presentation obtained by NBC news details Arizona Republican strategy for November, including plans to file competing ballot initiatives on abortion legalization in that state to confuse voters.
One slide on the powerpoint reads, “PHASE 2: SEND VOTERS TWO OTHER OPTIONS THAT CONFLICT WITH AAA INITIATIVE,” referring to the Arizona for Abortion Access ballot measure, which would enshrine access to abortion in the state constitution. The Arizona for Abortion Access campaign recently announced they had obtained more than enough petition signatures for the measure to appear on the November ballot.
The document proposes various confusing names for the alternative Republican ballot measures, which would be sent to the ballot directly by the legislature to avoid the signature process. Such titles included the “Protecting Pregnant Women and Safe Abortions Act,” the “Arizona Abortion and Reproductive Care Act” and the “Arizona Abortion Protection Act.”
Despite the soft-sounding titles, one proposed measure listed in the document would outlaw abortion after 15 weeks in the state constitution. Arizona GOP even contemplate lowering the ban to 14 weeks in a section of the document that reads: “Could scale back 15-week law to 14-week law. In reality, a 14-week law disguised as a 15-week law because it would only allow abortion until the beginning of the 15th week.””

(CEO)— Arizona Republicans have been caught red-handed looking to manipulate voters by adding competing ballot initiatives on Abortion Rights. The GOP’s sole intention is to divide the electorate by implementing confusing and contradictory ballot measures. Which could ultimately undermine the voter-led Abortion Rights Campaign from being enshrined into law.
Republicans are desperately forcing their unpopular agenda onto the public. They are willing to lie, cheat, and steal, by any means. Imposing their will, with no regard, for what their constituents want. Republicans can’t accept the fact, people are vehemently opposed to their draconian policies. Instead, they ignore the overall popular opinions to satisfy their own religious interests.

However, Republicans are increasingly frightened by the Women’s Reproductive Rights Movement leading to their downfall. Once staunch, “Abortion is murder” advocates have moved the goalposts just to maintain their grip on power. The hypocrisy is undeniable because as long as they still get to keep their jobs they’ll compromise their sacred beliefs. But as soon as the opportunity arises they will certainly revert back to stricter prohibitions.
The major Republican talking point surrounding abortions has recently shifted. Demonizing Democrats for being too extreme on the topic. Implying Dems want to execute babies after birth if they change their minds about parenting. Which is thoroughly absurd and has no basis in reality whatsoever. In fact, only 10% of all abortions take place after the 13th week. While nearly 100% of late-term procedures occur because of severe complications to the pregnancy. Because either the baby and or the mother is at risk. It’s not like women are purposely waiting until the last minute to end their pregnancy due to inconvenience.

That’s why Democrats are opposed to any arbitrary cut-off dates invented by the GOP regarding reproductive care. Not the appalling speculating Republicans would have you presume. Abortion is an incredibly private matter that should only be decided upon by the mother, the loved ones she includes, and her doctors. Politicians, Judges, and Law Enforcement should never compel any healthcare judgments on a woman. Republicans would never allow government officials to influence their religious preferences. So expecting women to deal with such intrusion into their personal lives is delusional Republican logic at its finest.
