(The New Republic)—“Donald Trump claimed that a massive police presence has shut down traffic for blocks around the Manhattan courthouse where his hush-money trial is being held, preventing his supporters from showing their support and protesting on his behalf. But reality looks a little different.
NBC News reporter Vaughn Hillyard posted a video outside the courthouse Tuesday morning. The clip shows a pretty quiet street fully open to traffic, with only one Trump supporter there, according to Hillyard.
Either Trump has no idea what’s going outside of court, he’s deluding himself, or he’s trying to make excuses about a poor show of support. It’s not the first time, either: When the former president was initially indicted in his hush-money case in March 2023, the show of support outside of the court was abysmal, with trolls and media outnumbering supporters. When he was charged with 34 felony counts in the following month, news crews again dwarfed the MAGA faithful.”
(CEO)—No matter what the ultimate verdict is in Donald Trump’s “Hush Money Trial” Election Interference Trial. Just the mere fact that Trump has been abandoned by his entire family and amassed nearly no support from his MAGAT followers, at the courthouse. A surprisingly humorous turn of events I wasn’t anticipating. But after years of treating others so poorly, Trump deserves every bit of neglect he’s currently receiving.
Making things considerably worse for Trump, he’s been stripped of all his deplorable bravado by Judge Merchan. He is forced to sit quietly, on his best behavior, in the courtroom, for hours on end. Listening to an array of his old friends testify, by implicating Trump’s criminal culpability. It’s the type of comeuppance for Trump that usually takes place in my wildest fantasies.
The only notable drawbacks, at this point, is the American public hasn’t had an opportunity to watch this unfold live on television. Which is an unmistakable miscarriage of justice. Sadly, the mainstream coverage has primarily focused on Trump’s unhinged rebuttals pre and post-trial. Also infuriating is the press labeling this criminal case “The Hush Money Trial”. It makes it sound so frivolous and superficial. Frankly, Trump’s criminality may have altered the outcome of the 2016 election. So appropriately titling it “The Election Interference Trial” would strengthen public awareness. Giving the necessary perception of importance, the proceedings demand.
Still concerning, a majority of the electorate has purposely ignored the day-to-day happenings, of Trump’s first criminal trial. Relying solely upon misleading social media posts to keep them updated. However, if Trump’s own family and his MAGA sycophants could care less about the outcome of this case. Maybe this is the first step towards America’s detoxification of its Trump addiction.
Either way, I’m fascinated by Trump’s world seemingly crumbling down all around him. I just hope that reality is appreciated by the rest of the democracy lovers out there. It’s not often, we get a glimpse, of Trump being dragged through the mud in real-time. A magnificent moment in history, that I feel fortunate enough to experience. The pure euphoria it brings, to witness Trump being held accountable, for once in his lifetime. Just imagine how incredibly satisfying the three pending sequels will soon be!!
