(CNN) —“Joe Biden landed a major union endorsement Wednesday from North America’s Building Trades Unions, whose leaders say the president has his infrastructure bill largely to thank for it.
In making one of their earliest ever presidential endorsements, NABTU leaders are kickstarting an eight-figure organizing program to try to deliver their 250,000 members in the battlegrounds of Pennsylvania, Michigan and Wisconsin for Biden.
The backing from NABTU, which has 3 million members nationwide, is more enthusiastic than its 2020 backing of Biden. And it comes at a moment when a significant slice of union rank-and-file has split from traditionally Democratic-aligned union leadership in ways that are reverberating through elections. That’s raised questions about the political future of the next generation of union members.
It’s “almost like the perfect leader was sent at the perfect time for working people,” NABTU President Sean McGarvey told CNN about Biden in an interview announcing the endorsement.”

McGarvey’s highly favorable opinion of Biden comes in sharp contrast to his intensely negative views of Donald Trump. Having done prior business with Trump since the 1980s. He had a front-row seat to Trump’s lack of credibility and corrupt industry practices. Yet he still managed to get conned into endorsing Trump in 2016. Trump, unlike Biden, originally overpromised, to fix all the issues facing the NABTU, but never once delivered the goods. A reputation of dishonesty that has plagued Trump throughout his career. Following him from the private sector into the White House. McGarvey, being on the receiving end of Trump’s deception, during both periods.
As mentioned before Union Leaders are some of the best endorsements you can earn. They are effortlessly relatable and can explain how Biden’s agenda translates into economic growth and job creation in simplistic lingo. So their members and other working-class groups can calculate the impact of Biden’s policy decisions. So far, Biden has garnered the support from nearly all of the major Unions. Also, he appears to have the backing from the Teamsters Union Leadership, which will be announced later this year.
The juxtaposition between these two Presidential candidates, on their respective handling of most issues facing the US, nearly always favors Biden. But when it comes to manufacturing growth, job creation, and overall wage increases. Biden is in a league of his own, not only against Trump but in comparison to every other American President in history. Sadly there are still large portions of the population, that have no concept, of just how successful Biden’s policies have indeed been. Although messaging has always been a huge problem for the modern-day Democratic Party. Adding vocal Leaders like McGarvey to the roster of those speaking on the President’s behalf. Helping to spread the vital awareness necessary for a second term. Is an essential victory for Biden and another devastating defeat for Trump.
