(Media Matters)–“Project 2025 and the right-wing think tank the Heritage Foundation have a plan for a future Republican administration to defund “woke” public media institutions, including PBS and NPR.
Last year, Project 2025, a comprehensive transition plan organized by the Heritage Foundation, released a nearly 900-page policy book titled Mandate for Leadership: A Conservative Promise. The book outlines a radical set of policy proposals that would dismantle the civil service, outlaw abortion, and roll back civil rights. (The effort is backed by over 100 conservative partner organizations and has tied itself to former President Donald Trump’s presidential campaign.)
One chapter, written by Heritage Foundation senior fellow Mike Gonzalez, lays out a plan for how a Republican administration might defund the Corporation for Public Broadcasting, which uses taxpayer dollars to help fund public media institutions like PBS and NPR.”
“The 47th President can just tell the Congress—through the budget he proposes and through personal contact—that he will not sign an appropriations spending bill that contains a penny for the CPB. The President may have to use the bully pulpit, as NPR and PBS have teams of lobbyists who have convinced enough Members of Congress to save their bacon every time their taxpayer subsidies have been at risk since the Nixon era.“

(CEO)—Project 2025 is starting to feel a lot like a horror movie series. With terrifying sequels being released to the public every couple of weeks. As with scary films, each new episode is a considerably larger pile of 💩 than the previous ones. Nevertheless, this isn’t a string of awful movies. It’s a diabolical authoritarian blueprint that has been carefully designed by radical right-wing groups. Interested in overthrowing the US government as we know it. I’ve continuously updated my readers on each surfacing agenda item included in the plot.

Today’s entry on the MAGA extremist “bucket list” is completely defunding Public media organizations NPR (National Public Radio) and PBS (Public Broadcasting Service). These faux-conservative, fascist-wannabes have their sights set on removing anything from the airwaves that doesn’t align with their propaganda. What better place to start, than publicly funded communication networks. That educates the masses by contrasting right-wing disinformation plastered across the alt-right media platforms.

They ultimately plan on consolidating power to the Executive Branch of government. The FCC (Federal Communications Commission), in their dystopian state, will report directly to the President. Enforcing financial penalties and strict censorship regulations as a weapon against the “free press” system, currently in place. If this sounds a lot like what a dictatorship does, sadly you’re correct. The whole basis behind Project 2025 is to erase the fundamental institutions that make our democracy operate efficiently.

Just imagine the MAGA version of the influential “Sesame Street” program entitled “Mar-A-Largo Way”. Where “Big Bird” is now a Christian Nationalist pushing “replacement theory” onto children. “Oscar the Grouch”, a homeless immigrant, is treated like a criminal for squatting in a trash can. “Snuffleupagus” is bedridden because of the dangerous side effects of fentanyl-laced vaccines. “Elmo”, a Qanan believer/election denier, teaches kids that mail-in voting is illegal and punishable with death by tickling. Anyway, you get the overall idea. It may seem far-fetched but all it takes is Donald Trump winning the electoral college, in the upcoming election. For this type of thought suppression programming to come to fruition. At the very least they are being quite honest about their evil intentions. So please, take them at their word. Vote as if it is your last chance to stop this madness from ever becoming a reality. Make sure Project 2025 remains a work of fiction that never sees the light of day.
