(CEO)—Where was this amazingly powerful orator last night under the bright lights of CNN’s televised Presidential Debate? Because the President Biden, who showed up to debate Donald Trump. Appeared as if someone shot in the neck with a tranquilizer dart. Carried him out to the podium, slapped him in the face to wake him up, and said “Action”. Leaving the lethargic Biden to incoherently mumble himself through a 90-minute lifeless performance. With little to no defense for Donald Trump’s bump-stock-propelled amount of rapidly fired lies.

I was remarkably confident going into last night’s debate. So for Biden to corroborate all the accusations Republicans have made about his fragility was soul-crushing, to say the least. It was honestly the first time during this campaign process that I felt genuinely concerned about Biden’s acuity. Then today with any remaining hope already drained from my body. I stumbled upon today’s speech by Biden and saw the Presidential spirit I expected to witness last night. But what portion of the 40+ million tuning into the debate will ever see the commanding presence displayed by Biden in today’s speech? The simple fact remains that Biden undoubtedly struck out on the most crucial stage imaginable. On the one night, the country needed him to be at his finest.

I realize excuses are like assholes, everyone has them and nobody wants to hear either one from someone else. So brace yourself because I’m about to make you listen to mine. Excuse that is, not my asshole! Maybe Biden’s camp should’ve considered starting the debate a lot earlier than 9 pm. I don’t know too many guys in their 80s who hit their peak performance at 9 pm. Especially when they feel dinner is too late if it’s served anytime after 4 pm. From the looks of today’s performance, Biden’s full-throttle zone is somewhere between 10 am-1:30 pm. If we’re being totally honest with ourselves. Not that I blame the President one bit because, around a half hour after I eat my dinner, you’d assume someone had “roofied” my drink. So much so that I frequently awake to find the crumbs of a chocolate rice cake spread about my chest and somehow lodged in my belly button. Don’t ask because I have no explanation to give for how it ended up in there.

Although last night was an awful look for Biden, Trump certainly didn’t do himself any favors either. Every time his microphone was live and his mouth was in motion not one truthful statement was uttered by the felon. A deceptive performance even a coked-up George Santos couldn’t top in his wetest of dreams. Trump even sunk to an all-time new low for his standards. A depth not even the creators of the “Titan Submersible” would be willing to explore. But on the plus side for Trump, it was the only real accomplishment from either candidate last night. However, Trump specifically blaming the January 6th Insurrection on Nancy Pelosi. Was the true low point during an event, built solely of lows. It nearly caused me to spit out coffee all over the television and I haven’t drunk coffee in over 10+ years. (H/T Prez)

My major criticism of Biden during the debate is not that he appeared to resemble a frozen corpse. It wasn’t the sexiest look by any means but the “Walking Dead” stare is something Biden has no control over at his age. But giving minimal pushback to Trump’s constant fabrications was as infuriating as it gets. There were plenty of opportunities for Biden to discredit Trump’s lies yet most of them went without ever being debunked. I recognize the job requirements for the Presidency don’t include fact-checking a deranged lunatic. But stepping up to meet the moment when the country needs you the most, is. Especially with the fate of democracy on the line, Biden not only needs to be willing to defend it, but he also must possess the physical ability to protect it. I will always be a President Biden supporter and back whatever decisions he chooses to make. Nonetheless, I do believe after last night’s performance it’s incumbent upon Biden to live up to his promise. Putting American democracy in the best possible scenario to prevail. Whether Biden’s up to the task himself, only he truly knows the answer to that question. We should allow Biden the option to do what he’s done his entire career. Place the health and well-being of the United States above his own personal benefit. So no matter what transpires I will respect his wishes. Because Biden’s natural selflessness is a moral quality most people including his opponent Trump will never attain.
