The Republican House Majority vs The Previous Democratic Majority

Republicans have not had any political accomplishments to speak of in recent history. The Party’s lack of clear policy initiatives has led to its reliance on divisive social rhetoric to feed its growing extremist base. They have not only failed to enact any popular legislation, they are currently failing to simply keep the government operational. I would call it a new low for the Republican Party but they have put the country in this position multiple times.

Kevin McCarthy appears in over his head

The chaotic House GOP under Speaker Kevin McCarthy’s leadership is self-destructing. Division within the party’s ranks is the leading source of infighting. Keeping the Republican-led House from completing even the basic tasks of governance. For which the American public will suffer the greatest consequences due to their ineptitude. This comes as their last constitutional duty of paying the bills the country had already accumulated. Nearly ended in default, if Democrats weren’t able to bail them out of the eminent economic disaster. With a last-minute bipartisan compromise that should have been passed long before the deadline. But Republicans used their constitutional responsibilities to hold the nation’s economy hostage. Threatening to default on the country’s debts, because the Democrats wouldn’t allow them to drastically cut benefits to millions of Americans. Now they are threatening to impeach President Biden to take the focus off of Donald Trump’s legal troubles and Speaker Kevin McCarthy’s failure to complete the simplest of legislative tasks.

Trump has steered House Republicans toward an impeachment inquiry.

While they waste taxpayers’ time and money on an impeachment inquiry after a five-year investigation has resulted in zero evidence against President Biden. The government faces an impending shutdown because McCarthy’s Republican House can’t produce the necessary votes. Even the Defense spending has failed to pass on multiple attempts because members have included their extreme social policy proposals. Defense spending historically is the one thing that Republican lawmakers have easily passed. Meanwhile, Senator Tommy Tuberville has made it his life’s work to impede all military personnel from rising through the ranks. Creating an unprecedented risk to our country’s national security. A Party that considers itself a champion of the Military. Has devolved into a threat to our Nation’s military might. Due to the selfish actions of a single Senator and Speaker McCarthy’s lack of leadership.

The incompetence that McCarthy’s House Republicans have displayed, comes in stark contrast to the historic volume of the legislative accomplishments that House Democrats passed during the previous two-year term. A slim majority of 222-213 was instrumental in the passage of a multitude of popular initiatives enacted into law. Included in the legislation were: the American Rescue Plan, the establishment of Juneteenth as a federal holiday, the creation of a House Committee to investigate the January 6th attack on America, the historic infrastructure bill, gun control legislation, the Chips and Science Act, Aid for Veterans exposed to Burn Pits, the Inflation Reduction Act, Federal Protections For Same-Sex Marriage, Ukraine Funding, Reformed the Electoral Count Act, along with the necessary funding of the government at each turn with no shutdowns.

This is your House Republicans

The last of which, Republicans may fail to do with a similar majority as the one Democrats were limited to. This makes you wonder if the Right Wing’s failure to garner enough votes is due to their inability to govern under constitutional rules. Or does the Party’s impending governmental shutdown have more to do with corruption than it does incapability? Either way, it is a byproduct of electing Republican congresspeople in this MAGA climate.

Yet national polls consistently indicate that the Republican base has not completely vanished. This means the citizens of this nation are either as delusional as the Republican House majority or they are extremists that yearn for our democracy’s demise. Because it is quite obvious Democrats are the only party doing what they were elected to do. Making life for the American population better through legislation. The polar opposite can be said of their Republican counterparts. They have taken every opportunity to hold American workers and the country’s economy hostage. All for their self-serving purposes. So the next time you go to vote, your choice should be clear. Do you prefer democracy and achievement over inefficient and negligence?

With a decision that simple, even lifelong Conservatives should abandon the Republican Party because of the extreme direction it is headed. Democrats have earned their positions as elected lawmakers and deserve the backing from the American electorate. Anything short of a Democratic majority in the 2024 House elections. Would be a self-inflicted disaster that could result in the collapse of our democracy. The time has come to put the country’s future survival above partisan political pride.
