(Press Release)– In today’s Subcommittee on Health and Financial Services political stunt hearing titled ““America’s Report Card: Oversight of K-12 Public Education,” Rep. Summer Lee called out Republicans’ efforts to ban books, censor teachers, bully LGBTQ+ kids, and erase Black history. Lee also pointed out Republicans’ selective efforts to prioritize “parental rights,” citing that an NPR poll found that 76% of parents were happy with their kids’ schools and what they were taught.
Since taking office in January, Lee, who serves on the House Oversight Committee and Space, Science and Technology Committee, has delivered historic levels of federal investment totaling over $1 Billion brought back to Western PA, including over $200 million for infrastructure, over $50 million for affordable transit, and over $500 million to keep clean energy manufacturing at home in Pennsylvania. These investments will help improve Western Pennsylvania’s infrastructure and transit, ensure cleaner air and drinking water, lower housing costs, fund research institutions, fuel clean manufacturing, fund STEM innovation and entrepreneurship, boost workforce development, and create thousands of good paying union jobs. Lee and her team have also delivered casework and constituent services to over 1,600 constituents with issues ranging from helping our seniors and disabled community access Medicare and social security to helping folks secure housing and helping families with immigration support and passports.
Watch out Republicans, the young Democrats Jasmine Crockett of Texas and Summer Lee of Pennsylvania are not going to stand by and allow your lies and political rhetoric to go unchallenged anymore. Especially when the victims of the continued Republican attacks on education are children and hardworking teachers across the country.
The two freshmen Congresswomen have been amazing additions to the House Democrats. You can never have enough incredibly intelligent and fearless defenders of democracy on your roster. So to add these women to the list of future leaders of the Democratic Party dismisses the narrative that the party is void of young talent.
Compare Crockett and Lee to the Republican Congresswomen making daily headlines in Lauren Boebert and Marjorie Taylor Greene. The juxtaposition between the two pairs is so staggering that it’s shocking that all four women have the same job. You wouldn’t know it by the way they’ve conducted themselves during their time in office. Crockett and Lee have been at the forefront of many Democratic issues. With passionate arguments highlighting the hypocrisy of the GOP positions with fact-based counterattacks providing critical analysis, proving their logic true.
On the other side of the aisle, you have Boebert and MTG. Boebert’s memorable performance to this point was a dry hand release attempt on her boyfriend in a crowded theater with children present. While MTG on multiple occasions has shown stolen dick pics of the President’s son Hunter, to the American public in separate hearings. Not to mention the plethora of instances where the two were caught lying to the Press and the people of the United States.
The two parties compared side by side shows the parity between them and when you further examine some of the individuals like these four women. It becomes abundantly clear what makes the Democrats so laser-focused on correcting the problems facing the nation. When your roster is loaded with highly educated people with real-world experience through years of service to their communities. Your party as a whole reflects that competence and dedication to their constituents.
The same thing goes for Republicans. When they fill their ranks with immature uneducated racists who only care to spread their hateful ideology. The GOP becomes what it has morphed into in the last decade. A party with no real policy to speak of with divisive social issues being their only political agenda. Yet they still have a base. Yes, it may be shrinking by the day, but those who are still on board are impassioned by right-wing politicians like Boebert and Greene.
As Johann Wolfgang von Goethe once said “Tell me with whom you associate, and I will tell you who you are.” I will always back Democrats as long as they continue to elect outstanding leaders like Crockett and Lee. For those of you who are still Republicans, if MTG and Boebert are the best candidates to represent you and your party. Then that speaks volumes for your own personal character and maybe it’s time to reexamine your inner demons. Always VOTE BLUE!!!
