(CBS News)–“During his time in office and amid his inaugural 2020 run for Texas’ 22nd District congressional seat, Republican Rep. Troy Nehls has repeatedly claimed to be the recipient of two Bronze Star medals and a Combat Infantryman Badge from his time in the U.S. Army serving in Iraq and Afghanistan.
There is no question that Nehls served overseas, engaged in combat, and was awarded a Bronze Star for his duties there. But military documents obtained by CBS News after a months-long investigation and a review of his service record by the U.S. Army at the Pentagon show Nehls received one – not two – Bronze Star medals. And his Combat Infantryman Badge from Afghanistan was revoked from his service record in 2023 because Nehls served as a civil affairs officer, not as an infantryman or Special Forces soldier.”
(CEO)—Unless you’re Donald Trump or Kevin McCarthy back when he still existed in the political world and flip-flopped more frequently than a fish out of water. It’s not often you catch me verbally condemning the same Republican dip💩 on back-to-back days. But when the news breaks that a Trump ball-washer like GOP Congressman Troy Nehls has been caught fabricating his military record. I just couldn’t help myself from adding my two cents to the conversation.
Stolen valor is a real hot-button issue, especially in right-wing circles. There are thousands of videos out there, mostly depicting, someone living on the streets with an IQ south of 80. Being verbally accosted for wearing the wrong style of camouflage. For the specific service, they pretend to represent, while panhandling. It’s the definition of “kicking a dog when it’s down” and I’m no fan of that genre. Don’t get me wrong, stolen valor is a real degenerate move. But it’s one thing to use it as a survival tactic on the streets to score money for food. It’s a far worse infraction if your goal is to mislead your constituents for self-serving political gains.
Troy Nehls is the epitome of the warped MAGA mentality. Where no lie is off limits, even if it’s, using a noble cause like serving your country as a soldier. Then contorting that reality to fit a made-up narrative. Which disrespects the men and women you served with. Along with the military members who rightfully earned and sacrificed for the honors you pretend to symbolize. It’s completely unnecessary and undermines the merit of your genuine accomplishments.
But this is how the MAGA godfather himself, Trump, has taught his underlings to carry themselves. His entire persona is a fragile house of cards, built on a foundation of lies. So it’s not surprising in the least bit, that one of his biggest supporters in Congress. Would fabricate the details he campaigned on, that won him his seat. Ironically, Troy Nehls was quoted just yesterday saying the quiet part out loud. When discussing his role as a US Congressman. Stating “Everything we do in the House of Representatives should be in the best interests of getting Donald Trump re-elected.” A rare moment of truth from another dishonorable MAGA Mouthpiece. Who, now has “stolen valor” on his resume. And from the sounds of yesterday’s comment, “wasting taxpayer’s money on behalf of Trump”, can also be added to his pitiful list of achievements.
