(Newsweek)–“Aileen Cannon, the judge overseeing Donald Trump‘s classified documents case, has said she declared two “luxury” resort trips to Montana that were mentioned in a National Public Radio investigation.
“Cannon, herself a Trump appointee, attended two seminars at a luxury resort in Montana, but the privately funded seminar disclosures for both events were not posted online until NPR began making inquiries,” NPR’s online investigation states.
Federal judges must declare any free trips on their disclosure documents. NPR’s allegations about Cannon are part of a larger investigation into undeclared free trips taken by federal judges. The investigation, released on NPR’s website on Wednesday, claims that “dozens of federal judges failed to fully disclose free luxury travel to judicial conferences around the world, as required by internal judiciary rules and federal ethics law.””
(CEO)—Judge Aileen Cannon the Trump-appointed federal judge overseeing his Classified Documents Trial. Apparently suffers from the exact same bouts of temporary amnesia that have plagued Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas. What’s even more coincidental, about their conditions. Both Judges’ memory lapses, only seem to occur, when it is time to disclose their luxury vacations from wealthy right-wing donors. Seriously, what are the odds of this impairment debilitating the two highest-profile MAGA Judges in existence?
Nonetheless, it would be a real disgrace if Judge Cannon would eventually have to recuse herself from overseeing Trump’s criminal proceedings. Perhaps this has been the cause of Cannon’s issues all along. The reason she’s consistently made rulings throughout this trial that undoubtedly favor Trump. Could the side effects prevent her from being impartial? Cannon’s efforts to sabotage the prosecution’s case from the very beginning, on Trump’s behalf. Would now make much more sense if it’s related to her mental decline.
At this point, stepping down from the bench, to get the necessary psychological assistance she needs will benefit her. I would advise Cannon, to do whatever she can, so the case moves forward smoothly without her. The sooner that happens the better. You wouldn’t want to infringe on Trump’s right to a speedy trial. Not while Trump has so many other legal problems facing him. The quicker we get these criminal trials, over and done with, the sooner he can get back out on the campaign trail.
I highly recommend Cannon take an extended leave to unwind after dealing with all this intense media coverage. By simply relaxing and enjoying some peaceful Aileen time. Fingers crossed it doesn’t exasperate her disorder even more. Sending Cannon spiraling into a vicious cycle of disclosure forgetfulness. We wouldn’t want her to be enjoying a cold beverage at the luxury hotel pool bar. Then suddenly blank that the Conservative Billionaires the Koch Brothers were the ones footing the bill.
Something drastic must be done to prevent these unfortunate mishaps from occurring. If only to protect Judges like Cannon and Thomas from ever looking so unjustly unethical again. For merely taking advantage of generous gifts from Right-Wing Mega-Donors. It’s hard enough these Judges have to endure a lifelong appointment. Let’s pass sweeping legislation banning such contributions to sitting Judges. Anything just to avoid further embarrassing investigations into the Judges, Wealthy Criminal Defendants, and Billionaires involved. It’s about time someone is finally looking out, for their best interests.
